From Introvert to Entrepreneur: What Seven Years of Bed and BARKfest Have Taught Me

It’s been so fun celebrating seven years of Bed and BARKfest.
So much about being an entrepreneur has changed my life, and all for the better.

For those of you who met me many years ago, you know I was quite the introvert. You wouldn’t catch me out partying or networking much back then. I was the girl happiest at home with a quiet craft and a good book. But this wild small business world pulled me in, and I don’t regret a single minute of it, even when the hard work felt endless.

At almost every holiday meal, I have aunts, cousins, and family members lovingly teasing that they never saw Quiet Erin being the one to take the stage, grow a team, and build a business from the ground up. And honestly, I love that. Because it’s proof that even the quietest among us can build something powerful when we find what we’re passionate about.

You might not know that alongside running Bed and BARKfest, I’ve also been teaching courses on networking and small business growth, helping other business owners build confidence in their plans, their voice, and their direction. I’ve spoken at events and workshops and found that what truly lights me up, beyond the dogs, is helping women, introverts, and underdogs realize there is a seat for them at the table, even in spaces that might feel intimidating.

And don’t worry, I’ll still be posting all the dog tips, stories, and insights you know and love.
But you’re also going to start seeing a bit more from me about business, leadership, and what it really takes to grow something meaningful from the ground up.

Because here’s what I’ve learned: so much of what makes someone a good dog person—patience, reading the room, calm confidence, and genuine connection—are the same things that make a great leader and networker. Dogs have taught me more about communication, trust, and leadership than any business book ever could (but don’t get me wrong, I’m not bashing business books. I read as many as I can get my hands on and absolutely adore them).

Over the years, I’ve realized something powerful: introverts are actually built to succeed in business. We listen more, observe deeply, and connect genuinely. Networking isn’t about being the loudest person in the room; it’s about being the most memorable, and that’s something introverts do naturally when they have the right tools.

So, if you’ve ever gone to a networking event and left feeling drained, invisible, or like you just didn’t click, I created something for you. My new e-book, Network Like a Natural, is for the introverts, the quiet leaders, and the women ready to step into rooms that once felt overwhelming. It’s simple, actionable, and built on real-life experience, not theory.

And if you’re ready to take it even further, I now offer 1:1 coaching calls for those who want to get the most out of networking, stop making it draining, and finally start seeing a real return on investment.

I’ll be sharing a bit more about that journey here, so keep an eye out as I get ready to launch a new page dedicated to leadership, business, networking, and growth—especially for those looking to turn a side hustle into a multiple six-figure business. I’ll also be coaching caregivers, introverts, and fellow dog lovers who are ready to build confidence and step into their next chapter as leaders.

Because whether it’s in business, leadership, or life, I believe the world does better when we all know we belong.
